Conditions
Easy Belly is here to help provide you with information and resources for both acute and long-term gut health.
Constipation
Constipation is commonly characterized by infrequent or difficult to pass bowel movements. Other signs of constipation can include straining to pass the stool, experiencing a sensation of incomplete stool evacuation, passing hard stools, or needing to use laxatives to have bowel movements. Constipation can become a chronic condition with many different treatment options that range from behavioral and or nutritional changes to over the counter and or prescription medications.
GERD
The most common symptom of GERD, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, is heartburn. However, GERD can also present in many other ways such as a chronic cough, hoarseness of the throat, difficulty swallowing, regurgitation of food or sour liquid, change in voice, asthma, throat clearing, post-nasal drip, and even erosion of the teeth. A wide range of treatment options are available, and your treatment plan should be tailored to your specific needs. This can range from lifestyle modifications—like dietary changes, weight loss, or avoiding triggers—to over-the-counter antacids or prescription medications such as Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs).
diarrhea
Diarrhea involves having loose or liquid bowel movements, ranging from soft blobs to mushy or liquid stool on the Bristol Stool Scale. There are many different causes of diarrhea – brain-gut-microbiome alterations, malabsorption of consumed food, medication related, endocrine/hormone imbalance, inflammatory, infectious, or motility problems. At Easy Belly, we are passionate about providing you online resources and counseling sessions to help you identify the cause of your diarrhea, creating a personalized plan to improve your symptoms. We have a particular passion for recognizing and improving brain-gut-microbiome changes that can cause diarrhea and focusing efforts on understanding underlying mental processes, stressors, and microbiome changes affecting people with chronic diarrhea. At Easy Belly we focus on providing holistic care, addressing these areas to help you improve your symptoms and feel better.
IBS
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a comprehensive gut disorder with a range of symptoms that affects an estimated one in ten people. IBS is often characterized by abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, and changes in bowel habits. Historically providers taking care of patients with IBS have focused on improving specific symptoms, such as abdominal pain or bowel movement changes, but newer research has shown promise with more comprehensive/holistic treatment strategies that span dietary, psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, and microbial therapies.
Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD)
Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD), previously referred to as Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, is one of the leading causes of liver disease in today’s world. Through online resources and personalized counseling sessions, we will help you make changes to improve your liver health wherever you are on the Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease spectrum.
