Dr. Nicole Shen

Nicole Shen, MD, MSc is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology. Dr. Shen earned her medical degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Medicine in Columbia, Missouri. She completed her internship, residency, and fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York, New York. While in New York, she also obtained her Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Services Research.

Dr. Shen provides comprehensive gastroenterology and transplant hepatology care to adults, offering both procedural and clinical care. Such care involves management and treatment of acute gastrointestinal symptoms such as GI bleeding, preventative care such as colon cancer screening, and symptom focused care including but not limited to constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, difficulty swallowing, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, and celiac disease. She also cares for patients with liver disease with a particular focus on evaluating abnormal liver tests and optimizing care and outcomes for patients with alcohol-related liver disease, Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD), viral hepatitis, and autoimmune hepatitis.

 

When working with patients to improve symptoms and health outcomes, Dr. Shen focuses on taking time to understand her patients’ health histories and health care concerns, connecting with her patients to develop a robust, fundamental relationship. By doing this, she works with her patients to create a healthcare plan that is personalized to address their concerns while optimizing their health and taking into account what they find manageable. She believes it is very important to break down the steps toward improving their health into understandable and actionable tasks so that they can enjoy the process and have successful outcomes. She truly enjoys and takes pride in creating personalized and fun gastrointestinal and liver healthcare treatment plans!
